eJCC 02.29.12

February 29, 2012 05:41:

The new e-JCC was installed the weekend of February 25-26. This new platform provides a variety of new capabilities.  Please understand that there are some minor problems that have been discovered with the program, and we are working day and night to rectify those problems.

If you cannot gain access to the program, you will need to contact us for password help and possibly a password reset. Please send access requests like this to me at david_langham@doah.state.fl.us.

When uploading a document, several people have complained that the "submit" button is not "active," meaning that they can see the "submit" button but cannot click on it.  This will usually indicate that you have not completed the description boxes completely. If you are using "other" from the "document" drop down, you must add a "title," which you type to describe the document. If you are having specific issues with uploading documents, please contact jeannie_paugh@doah.state.fl.us.

Adjusters, the "docket" in e-JCC will not display the Petitions for you.  You will be able to view anything that you have filed in the e-JCC docket. If you need to view the PFB or some order that we have entered, to prepare your Response, or if you need to download these documents for your digital file, use the main OJCC webpage docket.  Go to www.fljcc.org, and put the case number into the "JCC Case Quick View" at the top of the page.  This will take you to the public information on the case and by clicking the "docket" tab there you should have access to all public filings like PFBs and Orders.

We experienced a slight problem with a few of our e-service emails.  These are the emails you get with a document link in them.  Those should be working fine at this time.  If you are having continued problems with those links sent either Tuesday, February 28, 2012 or after, then please forward the link email to david_langham@doah.state.fl.us so that we can look at the problem.  For those emails received Monday, please understand that we know the error occurred.  A quick and easy way to make sure you know what those documents are is to view the docket of that case number and look at whatever order or notice our office uploaded on Monday, February 27, 2012 in that case.

Attorneys, did you notice that you now have a "case filings" alternative on the blue task-bar at the top of the e-JCC page?  You can select that feature, and then put in the date range you wish to view.  For example, if you put February 28, 2012 in both the "from" and "to" boxes, you will get a list of all the filings in all your cases on that date.  This is a great way to see what opposing counsel is filing and to verify that you know what is going on in your cases before the "service" copy may arrive.  We have been told that some attorneys will e-file a motion and then send the service copy by U.S. Mail instead of email.  Attorneys have complained that this puts them behind the curve when they do receive the U.S. Mail copy as they have lost several days.  The "case filings" should help.  The Judges have had this feature for some time, and it is OJCC practice for some staff member to check those filing reports at least daily.  Consider assigning some staff in your office to check "yesterday" filings each morning.

Unprofessional conduct needs to be noted. Multiple attorneys have reported to me that one law firm is allegedly, systematically, blocking emails from attorneys sent to that firm.  They report that they serve pleadings by email, and after initial successes they begin to receive error reports or "rejected" emails back, indicating their service did not reach the intended attorney.  One attorney reported to me that when this happens the attorney will try signing up for a new email, and each time the attorney does this the emails will successfully go through for a few days and then begin to be blocked or rejected again.  If this is true, it signals an inappropriate and unprofessional behavior.  If you know of this occurring and are willing to tell me the name of the law firm, please email me david_langham@doah.state.fl.us.
