Good morning again.  I am pleased to announce that our programmers believe all issues with the e-PFB are now resolved! There is an old adage that "all mechanical things fail," and perhaps that is applicable to "all software" also.  I am reminded of a Japanese proverb, "Fall down seven times, get up eight." I think we (the OJCC) have gotten up.  I know that our falling down last week caused many users frustration and confusion over the first week of March, and for that I apologize again.

I need to know of any ongoing issues that you are encountering.  We continue to reset passwords for users.  Most of our reset activity has been related to outdated email addresses that users had in their profiles.  We have given each user the ability to change their own profile.  You can change whatever you wish in your profile.  This is YOUR profile.  It does not belong to your law firm, your employer or your company.  If you change companies or firms, you as an attorney, adjuster or mediator may change the address, phone number, fax number, etc. to reflect your new firm information. You can change your primary and secondary email accounts. Keep in mind that if you change your primary email account, that changes your login name.  If you need a reset, email me david_langham@doah.state.fl.us.  Please do not try to create a new account when you move.  Multiple issues last week resulted from users that had multiple accounts (one person had four!).

The Florida Legislature has mandated that DOAH and most state agencies "buy" our email service from a centralized state email provider.  As a result of that, our email addresses are changing.  Please prepare for this change now by listing both efile@doah.state.fl.us and efile@doah.myflorida.com as “friendly” addresses in your email system.  My new address after this transition will be david.langham@myflorida.com. Your emails with suggestions, questions, and criticisms are always welcome.

I know it was a frustrating week.  In response to an email advising one user of the password reset on their account, I received the interesting response "Get your intrusive posting off of my email - you incompetent, intrusive, bureaucrat."   Out of the hundreds of email and telephone interactions I had last week, I am thankful that this is the only example of unprofessional communication that we encountered. I am hopeful that this user is having a better week this week!

I appreciate your patience, and thank you for the opportunities I had to communicate with so many users personally.  I was gratified by your patience and professionalism during our conversations and email interactions. Those of you that provided error messages, screen shots, and feedback were an integral part of our efforts to discover the root of problems, and you facilitated the changes and corrections that corrected those errors.  Those of you that were inspired to send ideas for further enhancement are also appreciated.

We continue to offer the most comprehensive electronic filing product I know of in the nations' workers' compensation systems.  Already, we are planning further expansion of e-JCC's capabilities and functionality.   I continue to be thankful to the DOAH/OJCC team that has developed this platform and continues to work daily to improve it.  For their efforst last week, my thanks to our IT director Susan Brown, Programmers Russ Vaughn and Rich Vaughn, Wayne Reynolds, Web Programmer Jeff Russell, the OJCC IT team Kevin Wallace, Alex Harris, and Joel Kurasch, our help-desk support Jeannie Paugh, and Senior Counsel Walter Havers.  The tools you have and the responses you received last week are the result of their work, dedication and focus.  We have the best team of professionals in the business.

Finally, my thanks to some attorneys in the system that helped with troubleshooting and feedback so many times over the development of the e-filing system, thanks to Glen Wieland, Evan Ostfeld, and Mark Eckels. Thanks also for the input last week by Salim Punjani, Barry Stein, and paralegals Nicole Nicholson and Michele Gray.  Certainly, there were many other contributors, but these stick out in my recollection.

I wish you a pleasant week.  It is my expectation that this blog will become a more periodic tool.  I hope to post at least monthly on what is happening in the OJCC world.  Visit often and thank you again for your patience with us.
