Who ya gonna call . . . ? "askojcc"

Who ya gonna call? Don't call, email askojcc@doah.state.fl.us

In Ghostbusters II, Dr. Peter Venkman (doctor of what? I might ask. But that is another story) is on the stand in court and responds to the prosecutor  "Kitten, what I think I'm saying is, sometimes, (stuff) happens, somebody's gotta deal with it, and who're you gonna call?!"  Of course this is a clever screenwriting integration of the Ray Parker theme song from the original movie. And it illustrates the point for today. He is right, sometimes stuff happens and it needs to be fixed.

At the end of February, Jeannie Paugh retired from the OJCC. Jeannie had been with us for many years, since before the OJCC became part of DOAH. She was helpful, kind, and considerate. We will all miss her. Jeannie was eager to help people and so people called and emailed her frequently. Things like:

I named my document incorrectly when I uploaded it, will you change it?

I put the wrong carrier in the petition, will you change it?

I uploaded my document to the wrong case, will you delete it?

These and scores of other changes were made based upon requests. With her departure, we have taken a fresh look at these changes to our database. Some of the reevaluation started in January when we rolled-out carrier e-service. At that time, we started to notice issues and questions about how things had been changed in the past in the OJCC database. For more on that, visit my blog "who are you," and it will be more clear.

For today though, we answer the question I got this morning from a frustrated user whose email to Jeannie had been returned undeliverable. That is, "who should we contact in the future regarding these types of questions?"

Well, the answer is not Ghostbusters! The answer is our handy OJCC help desk, which you can reach by email at askojcc@doah.state.fl.us

I know it is bragging, but please note that our help desk has been delivered to you, our users, within our existing budget for the last eight years. We have transitioned our existing staff from paper scanners and docketers to the role or helping you, our users. It is a matter of pride to me that we have saved the industry a great deal of money (see Justin Case, Wanted Dead or Alive), and we have never asked for a single additional dime to do so, see Buddy Can You Spare Me a $Million.

We are here to serve the public. If not for them, for you, we would have no job at all. If you ever feel that our agency does not make you feel like your questions are important, call or write me. If you feel staff is rude or inappropriate, call or write me. If you have ideas as to how we can better serve you, well, you get my point. My email is david.langham@doah.state.fl.us, and I will write you back.
